Lives and works in Bogotá, Colombia.
Sara Esteban (Bogotá, 2002) is an artist who recently graduated with a BFA from El Bosque University in Colombia. She has been part of collaborative, transdisciplinary projects in wood craftsmanship, museography, practice-led research, and conceptualization of artistic projects and creative processes.
In her practice, Sara is concerned about creating experiences that reflect the complexity of our existence. She works with various mediums, such as writing, editorial projects, and site-specific interventions. Through her work, she seeks to capture the essence of the traces we leave behind as we live, the emergence of new materialities, and how they subtly shape our day-to-day lives.

Public Space Intervention. Colored dust.
Variable dimensions.
"Imperceptible" works around the idea of the anti-events that go unnoticed in our daily lives. These subtle occurrences often escape our awareness as they unfold, happening without demanding our attention. This intervention attempts to grasp these imperceptible phenomena, exploring their essence through the movements of individuals who find themselves inadvertently involved. Originated as work in public space, it manipulates the spatial arrangement of sidewalks to facilitate the activation of these events on an unconscious level.

Helium balloons that write the word
M A Y B E [QUIZÁS]
Doubt in motion, uncertainty, and
possibility. The wind gives it life, gives it its
own movement, writes it, and finds in it its
hesitation.
On the street, a question, an affirmation of
hesitation. This project appeared in the
middle of a sidewalk, moved by the air;
MAYBE danced and whispered its
presence. Until eventually, letter by letter,
it flew away. A hint, a sign, may be seen in
the air.

A L S O L [ T O T H E S U N ] / PUBLIC SPACE INTERVENTION
2022
A public space installation in which a phrase appears referencing a personal secret. Made with paper and in the form of a garland, its aim was to experiment with the versatility of intervening the city with writing.
This visible exhibition of a personal secret touched on the way in which public space can be used as a stage for communication. A space where it is possible to leave a message out in the open for others to read and interpret while remaining anonymous.
Due to its arrangement and materiality, the text is distorted, preventing it from being readable from a single angle. Passersby who wanted to read this phrase had to walk around the light post to follow the spiral in which the text unraveled.
Selecting common materials that would enable the event to be brittle and susceptible to being affected by the city gave the work a temporal quality. This installation lasted three days before dissolving in the heavy rains of Bogotá.
